Swiss Machining Service from a Trusted China Manufacturer

We turn small, slender parts that other machines cannot hold steady. As a China Swiss machining manufacturer and supplier, our factory runs sliding-head CNC lathes with a guide bushing, so bar stock stays rigid next to the tool. The result is tight tolerance and a clean finish, even on long, thin parts. Upload your CAD file and get a factory-direct quote with free DFM feedback within 24 hours.

The Problem We Solve

Why Small Parts Go Wrong

These are the problems buyers tell us about every week. Here is how we take each one off your desk.

Long Thin Parts Bend

On a standard lathe, a slender part pushes away from the tool and loses size. Our guide bushing holds the bar right at the cut, so the part stays true.

Size Drift Over a Long Run

Tool wear and heat make sizes creep. We monitor key dimensions in-process and keep the part steady from the first piece to the last.

Too Many Setups, Too Much Error

Moving a part between machines adds time and mistakes. We turn, mill, drill, and tap in one setup, so the part is only handled once.

Bad Finish on Tiny Features

Small diameters and fine threads are easy to tear. Rigid cutting gives a clean surface and sharp threads that assemble without galling.

Slow, Vague Quotes

Waiting days for a price kills your timeline. Send your files and get a clear, itemized quote within 24 hours.

Files Not Kept Safe

Your design is your business. We treat every file as confidential, sign NDAs on request, and never share your data.

Overview

What Is Swiss Machining?

A turning method built for small, long parts that must stay dead straight.

How It Works in Plain Words

On a standard lathe, the part spins and the tool moves along it. On a Swiss machine, the bar stock slides forward through a small ring called a guide bushing. Only the tiny section being cut sticks out past the bushing.

Because the bar is held right next to the tool, it cannot bend away. The tool moves in and out to cut the shape. Live tooling lets the same machine also mill, drill, and tap sideways, so the part is finished in one setup.

When to Choose Swiss Machining

  • Small diameters — from 0.5 mm up to 32 mm bar stock
  • Long, thin parts — a high length-to-diameter ratio
  • Tight tolerance — ±0.005 mm or better on key features
  • High volume — automatic bar feeders run lights-out
  • Complex shapes — milled flats, cross-holes, and fine threads
  • Hard metals — titanium and superalloys that resist cutting

Materials

Metals and Plastics We Machine

If it can be turned, we can Swiss machine it. Tell us the working conditions and we will pick the best fit.

STEEL · STAINLESS · ALLOY

Steel & Stainless

Carbon steel, alloy steel, 303, 304, 316L, and 17-4PH. Strong, corrosion-resistant, and great for shafts, pins, and fittings.

ALUMINUM · BRASS · COPPER

Aluminum & Copper Alloys

Light aluminum plus free-cutting brass (C360) and copper for terminals, contacts, and connector bodies.

Design Tips

Design Tips for Better Swiss Parts

Small changes in your CAD cut cost and improve quality. We check all of these for free.

Keep It Round

Swiss machines love round parts. Stay near the bar diameter and avoid big steps up in size.

Add a Lead Chamfer

A small chamfer on the front makes the tool enter cleanly and protects the edge.

Watch Deep Holes

Very deep small holes need special drills and can wander. Tell us early so we can plan it.

Use Standard Threads

Standard metric or UNC threads cut cleanly and cost less than special profiles.

Mind Thin Walls

Very thin walls can flex or chatter. Keep enough wall so the part stays rigid in the cut.

Call Out Key Tolerances

Mark only the dimensions that really matter. This keeps the price low and the quality high.

Send your file and we will return a free DFM report with clear, plain-English advice.

Which Process Fits?

Swiss Machining vs Standard CNC Turning

Both cut round parts. The right pick depends on size, shape, and quantity.

Choose Swiss When…

  • Small diameters — under about 32 mm across
  • Long, thin parts — a high length-to-diameter ratio
  • Tight tolerance — fits that need a few microns
  • High volume — bar feeders run around the clock
  • Many features — milled flats, cross-holes, and threads in one setup

Choose Standard Turning When…

  • Large diameters — parts bigger than bar stock
  • Short, stubby parts — low length-to-diameter ratio
  • One-off or low volume — simple setups, quick to start
  • Bigger features — wide faces and heavy cuts
  • Loose tolerance — general sizes with no tight fits

Not sure which way to go? Ask an engineer — we offer both and will tell you honestly.

FAQ

Swiss Machining — Frequently Asked Questions

Swiss machining is a turning process that uses a sliding-head lathe. The bar stock slides through a guide bushing, so only the small section being cut sticks out. That keeps the part rigid and lets us cut very small, very long parts with high accuracy.
On a standard lathe, a long thin part bends away from the tool and loses accuracy. Swiss machines hold the bar right next to the cut, so there is almost no bending. This gives tighter tolerance, a better surface, and less scrap on small parts.
We machine bar stock from 0.5 mm up to 32 mm in diameter. Swiss machining is the best choice for parts with a high length-to-diameter ratio, where a standard lathe would struggle.
We routinely hold ±0.005 mm (±0.001 inch) or better on critical features. Tell us your key dimensions and we will confirm what is possible in your free DFM review.
We machine carbon and alloy steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, titanium, superalloys like Inconel, and engineering plastics such as POM, nylon, PTFE, PEEK, and Ultem. If it can be turned, we can Swiss machine it.
A guide bushing is a small ring that holds the bar stock steady right where the tool cuts. It stops the part from bending, which is what makes Swiss machining so accurate on small, slender parts.
Yes. Our machines have live tooling and multiple axes, so we can turn, mill, drill, and cross-tap in one setup. This cuts handling time and removes secondary operations that add cost and error.
We offer deburring, heat treatment, passivation, anodizing, electroplating, grinding, laser marking, and light assembly. Parts can arrive finished and ready for your line.
Upload your 3D CAD files and tell us your material, quantity, and finish needs. Most quotes come back within a few hours on business days, and never more than 24 hours. Every quote includes free DFM feedback.
We prefer STEP (.stp, .step) or IGES (.igs, .iges) files for clean geometry. We also accept SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo/ProE, Parasolid (.x_t), and STL files. 2D PDF or DWG drawings are welcome for tolerances and notes.
There is no strict MOQ. We run one-off prototypes and high-volume production from the same process. Automatic bar feeders keep the price per part low as quantity goes up.
Yes. All customer files and ideas are treated as confidential. We sign NDAs when needed and never share your data.
