Surface finish
As machined is the raw surface left by the cutting tool. It is the fastest and cheapest finish for most prototypes.
What it is
As machined means we ship the part exactly as it leaves the CNC machine. The surface shows light tool marks. No sanding, blasting, or coating is added. It is the default finish for prototypes and for surfaces that are hidden or not critical to look at.
How it works
Machine the part
CNC milling or turning cuts the shape to your drawing.
Deburr edges
We remove sharp burrs by hand or tumbling.
Inspect
We check dimensions against your file.
Ship
No extra finishing is applied.
Why choose it
No extra process steps to wait for.
You pay only for machining.
Surface reflects the real toolpath and tolerance.
Ideal for checking how parts assemble.
Fine for hidden or non-visible surfaces.

Best applications
Early design checks and fit tests.
Inside faces that are never seen.
Functional tools where look is not key.
Components buried inside an assembly.
Materials
We apply As Machined to the materials below. Not sure if your material qualifies? Our engineers will confirm it for free.
Our solution
As machined is our default and fastest option. We deburr every part and inspect it before shipping, so even raw parts are clean and accurate.
Design tips
Choose as machined when looks do not matter.
Tool marks can trap dirt on sliding surfaces.
Pick a finer finish for show surfaces.
